What a wonderful evening showcasing so many reasons why Holy Trinity School is special! A French lesson from our Kindergarteners, Ireland facts and Irish dancing by our Grade 1 students, a school choir performance, and a fabulous Multicultural Night event sponsored by our families! Also happening was the wrap-up of the Scholastic Bookfair and Faculty Carnival of Prizes - both a huge success once again this year! All this and another visit from our friends at Action News, who came to document the evening's events! Thank you to all who contributed to making the night so exciting!
The hallways of Holy Trinity School were filled with famous Americans - from Thurgood Marhsall and Yogi Bera to Christa McAuliffe and Grace Kelly, students researched the life of a famous American and then "became" them to share their information with the rest of the student body. Erin Brockovich, Andrew Carnegie, Maria Tallchief, Billie Jean King, and Stan Lee were also represented, among others.
Our Prayer Partners - and, in some cases, Prayer Trios - shared in fun activities in yet another Catholic Schools Week celebration! Irish Potato making, donut decorating, and craft mosaics were just a few ways our students worked together. At Holy Trinity, Grades 1 and 8 and Grades 2 and 6 students are partnered, while Kindergarteners are in trios with Grades 7 and 3. PreK students are partners with students in Grades 4 and 5. The Prayer Partners sit together at First Friday Mass, get together for Christmas activities, perform Lenten service together, and find other ways to spend time with each other throughout the year.
Students in Grades 5-8 have been preparing for this first-ever competition by excitedly studying faith-based facts prepared for them by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office of Catholic Education! Preliminary "bees" have been conducted in individual classrooms, and the pool of student contestants has been narrowed to five from each grade level. Prizes will be awarded to the finalists!
In honor of Student Appreciation Day, Holy Trinity students were treated to special surprises from the administration and Home & School Association. During snack recess, all students received a soft pretzel from the Home & School Association - yum! Then, our Primary Unit friends in PreK to Grade 2 enjoyed a very exciting interactive show by "Radioactive Rick" of the Mad Scientists of West New Jersey, while our Grade 3 to 8 homerooms enjoyed time in the Tri-State Gamerz video game truck! Best of all, students got to "dress down" for the day, and will have no homework assigned for the evening!
Our Junior High students participated in athletic competitions to officially kick-off their month-long Academic Olympics competition. Student have been grouped within their grade levels and will have their team's academic scores tracked and tallied for the duration of the Olympic event. The winning "countries" will be announced at the Second Trimester Awards Assembly in March.
Holy Trinity students in PreKindergarten through Grade 8 pondered the countless possibilities available to them as they explored various future careers. Our PreK students came to school "dressed-up" to portray what they would like to be when they grow up, and shared their thoughts with their classmates and teachers (on the microphone!) in the Music and Movement Room of the Children's Cottage. Students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 enjoyed presentations from family members who visited Holy Trinity to demonstrate their careers. Our Junior High Unit students participated in online career exploration activities - interest and skill assessment surveys - that opened their eyes to a variety of career "clusters". Students then researched careers of interest to them to which they were matched by the questionnaires results.
The annual celebration of Catholic Schools will begin on Sunday, January 26 with an Opening Mass at 9:30 am in Holy Trinity Church. The week will be filled with academic, faith-based, patriotic, and family-centered activities for our students. For an overview of the week's activities, please check out the school calendar or the Forms & Communications page on the Events & News tab of the website.
Congratulations to the students in PreK through Grade 8 who were celebrated at today's S.T.A.R.E. Luncheon. This month, students were recognized for their service to others - what a wonderful quality to possess!
