Our 8th Grade DLFF Pathway Scholars were presented with stocking pins today by representatives of the Danaher-Lynch Family Foundation in appreciation for the work they did to help lead a recent service project at Holy Trinity School. The project was for The Christmas Gala’s “Stockings for Seniors” program, which delivers Christmas stockings and handmade Christmas cards to senior citizens living in nursing homes who do not have any family. Under the leadership of our DLFF Scholars, our students made more than 200 Christmas cards!
Our 8th Grade elves spent their morning delivering all the many donations that were collected for the families at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House. The students unloaded the snacks, cleaning supplies, and gift cards, and were given a tour of the Erie Avenue facility. On the way back to Holy Trinity, they stopped by McDonald's for a quick lunch. Thank you to the school community for your generosity toward this annual Advent charity collection! (More pictures can be found in the Photo Albums section on the Student Life tab.)
Our youngest students - PreK-3 to Grade 4 - ushered in Christmas week with Holy Trinity's annual Angel Pageant. The evening was filled with songs, poems, and a retelling of the birth of Jesus - a beautiful way to prepare for Christmas! Be sure to check out the photos in the Photo Albums section on the Student Life tab!
The Holy Trinity School tradition of receiving a class ornament each year continued today at our annual "Milk & Cookies Ornament Exchange" - a school favorite! Thank you to all the parents who hand-made ornaments commemorating the children's year. By time our students graduate, they will have nearly a dozen Holy Trinity ornaments!
Thank you to the students and staff who participated in our Advent fundraiser "Elves for Ecuador" by donating $1 to dress as a Christmas Elf! The money raised will support our Unbound sponsor child, Britney, who lives with her family in Ecuador. Who knew there were so very many elf accessories and outfits out there?!
As is tradition at Holy Trinity School, students and faculty gathered prior to First Friday Mass to participate in Monsignor Eckert's blessing of the Advent Wreath, as we begin this season of preparing for the birth of Jesus. Following Mass, students recounted the story of Jesus' family tree and hung symbolic ornaments on the Jesse Tree, which will stand in the school lobby for the remainder of Advent.
It was a week of gifting at Holy Trinity School, thanks to the dedicated parents, grandparents, and other special family members who acted as elves in Santa's Secret Shop! All of our students had the opportunity to pick out surprise gifts for their loved ones - including pets! - and enjoy edible Christmas treats, as the school library was transformed into Santa's workshop. Santa even made a guest appearance to hear all the children's Christmas wishes - what a special week for all!
