Today, as part of Catholic Schools Week, was Student Day at Holy Trinity School! To celebrate, our students enjoyed a dress down day and were treated to soft pretzels from our amazing Home & School Association. Our students in Grades 3-8 got to spend part of their school day playing some of the hottest video games when they visited the Game Truck. Our younger students - those in PreK to Grade 2 - were entertained by a performance by Young Audiences. Mrs. McDowell was sure to express to the students how blessed she feels to have each of them and their families in our school!
As part of our Catholic Schools Week activities, all students explored different career possibilities. Our youngest students in PreK dressed-up in a costume representing a career they may one day wish to pursue. Students in Grades K-5 enjoyed visits from school parents who shared their careers - among them were ER and ICU nurses, attorneys, a oral surgeon's assistant, a graphic designer, a helicopter paramedic, a home health nurse, a physical therapist, and a finance specialist. Grades 6-8 explored possible future careers by taking a career aptitude survey of their interests and personality traits, which matched them to various career clusters. The students then learned about the educational requirements and salary potential for careers - something many had never before thought about!
Grades 7 and 8 recently visited the Arms and Armor display at the Philadelphia Museum of Art as well as the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, where their teachers connected their ELA, Social Studies, and Art curricula with what the curators and tour guides showed them.
Congratulations to the students in PreK through Grade 8 who were recognized this month for the virtue of KINDNESS! Having you in our school makes Holy Trinity a better place to grow and learn!
Parent volunteer, Mrs. April Halloran, is teaching our Grade 4 students about financial planning, the global economy, managing money wisely, how to be an informed consumer, and saving/investing/managing risk. What an incredible opportunity for our young financiers!
Holy Trinity School, under the direction of Art Director Mrs. Genevieve Haney, has received national recognition. The students in 7th Grade participated in the national “Made by Milk 2017 Carton Construction Contest” in which they were challenged to re-purpose the school’s milk cartons into a sports-themed creation. Their entry "Tournament of the Trinity Knights" is a seven-foot sculpture created from 1,086 milk cartons. The students chose to depict sword-fighting/fencing as their sport to coordinate with their English Language Arts and Social Studies curricula, which covered the Middle Ages. A $1,000 cash prize was awarded to the school and will be used to enhance the Art Program. The school community congratulates these students and their teacher on their accomplishment.
